Spring has sprung… and it’s time to enjoy the many outdoor experiences that our community has to offer. Whether you’re heading into town or exploring just outside your doorstep, Oakland Park residents are never far from their next outdoor adventure! Ready to get started? Here are five ideas to get you started:
Take a ride (or a stroll) on the West Orange Trail.
There’s no better place to stretch your legs and get some fresh air than the West Orange Trail, and Oakland Park sits right along it’s path! This landmark amenity delivers access to 22 miles of walkways, trails and preserved wetlands, while connecting residents to nature, local shopping, dining, culture and entertainment in charming Winter Garden.
Stock up on fresh veggies at the Farmer’s Market.
Spring meals call for fresh ingredients… look no further than the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market! The Market has quickly grown into a community staple and offers a large selection of vendors from locally grown produce and baked goods, to homemade soaps and fresh flowers, and even live entertainment each week. The Winter Garden Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9:00am to 2pm in beautiful Historic Winter Garden.
Linger by the Lakes.
Oakland Park is home to seemingly endless shoreline along the banks of Lake Brim and the expansive Lake Apopka. Many residents enjoy waterfront views just outside of their front door, and all are only steps away from skipping rocks, dropping in a fishing line, or simply taking a walk alongside our signature bodies of water.
Take a Drive on the Wild Side.
Love learning about nature? Then just head to the other side of the water! The Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is a one-way 11-mile drive through the Lake’s preserved North Shore. Check out the Audio Tour which includes 11 points of interest including information on the alligator population, agricultural history, and one of the premier locations to observe birds in the southeastern United States.
The drive is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays between sunrise and sunset.
Soak up the sun or take a dip at the pool.
When it’s time to cool off under the warm Florida sunshine, look no further than Oakland Park’s Meadowmarsh Park and Pool. Spend the spring and summer days catching some rays poolside, or take a dip alongside the palm trees with neighbors and friends!
Oakland Park offers neighbors and residents numerous ways to enjoy the great outdoors. So get up… get out… and explore all there is to enjoy just outside your door!
